Salad Styling

My first food styling assignment was to style a salad.  Hmmm.. I didn’t want to do a plain old salad and wanted to do something I was really craving so I looked through my Clean Eating Recipe book to see what they had in store.

There was a nice Greek salad with a photo of course so I thought I would try and make and style one of those.  I mean how hard could it be?  Well it proved to be a challenge.  Why you say?  Because of how messy the salad actually looks when you make it.

I had to turn this into something that looks good enough to eat.

After poking, proding, moving around the olives, wiping off the tomatoes and moving around little pieces of cheese so it looks natural and not placed I ended up with this.

Not sure if it’s the best out there but for my first shot at it I don’t think it’s really half bad.

A New Passion

Lately I’ve had this new passion swelling inside.  A passion to figure out what type of photography I really want to do.  I tried my hand a bit a some food photography and uploaded a few to the istockphoto.com site.  The one of my panini is actually doing ok.

I thought I would try another one so I did a recipe that was asked for in the forums.

This is the Candied Salmon Recipe. It was really quite tasty.  It didn’t get approved though for lighting reasons.  I’m learning on this new MAC of mine and come to find out the screen is way brighter than I expected.  This is the fixed version.
